Conference

AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual schools” conducts International research-to-practice conference “Education Policy, Practice and Research” (hereinafter – Conference).
Venue and date of the Conference:  Astana, 23-24 October 2014.
 
Conference objectives:
 Generalization of experience and exchange of views on preschool and school education in the context of the priorities of educational policy, practice and research;
 Analysis of contemporary issues, integration of leaders` potential, expansion of cooperation in the field of education;
 Development of recommendations on the basis of the Conference, accumulating experience of Kazakhstani and international experts, practicing teachers, managers and scientists.
 
Target audience of the Conference:
representatives of 
The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
Local and international educational organizations;
Pedagogical communities of organizations of higher and secondary education;
Organizations of professional development of teachers;
International partners and experts from: UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Italy, New Zealand, Estonia, Russia, Armenia, etc.).
 
The Conference is planning to hold plenary meetings and section work in the following areas:
1. Renewal the content of preschool and school education.
2. Infant development and preschool education.
3. Implementation of trilingual education.
4. System of criteria-based assessment.
5. Pedagogical community and leadership in professional development of teachers.
6. Aspects of organization of school activity.
7. Learning resources in educational process.
8. Communities and parents: integration of possibilities.
9. Review of Kazakhstani and international research on preschool and school education (based on analytical findings of OECD, UNESCO, World Bank, NU GSE and others).
 
Languages of the Conference: Kazakh, Russian, English.

Collection of scientific papers

By the beginning of the Conference it is planned to publish a collection of scientific papers with the assignment of ISBN, UDC.
 
Publication of the collection of scientific papers is funded by organizers of the Conference.

          Widespread access to digital technologies has enabled millennials to access, create, share, and disseminate new knowledge in innovative and diversified ways. Today 21st century learners can work together in virtual environments by conducting online collaborative practices. Two relevant dimensions that have been deeply affected by the emergence of the current digital landscape are new facets of knowledge generation and new models of knowledge circulation and distribution. Despite the potential transformation of these novel practices and mechanisms of knowledge production and distribution a significant transformation will take place only if a new set of skills and practices are adopted by educators and learners.

TALKING TO LEARN: LEARNING TO TALK. CLIL FOR ALL IN THE MULTILINGUAL SCHOOL

          This talk will highlight the need for a general language enhanced education approach in the multilingual school, defending that the Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) perspective should be shared by all the teachers in the multilingual school, no matter the language used.
          We will focus specially on oracy skills related to academic achievement, trying to prove that dialogue is not only a must to ensure appropriate language development in any language, but is also a key tool for the construction of knowledge, which depends strongly on verbalizing one’s own ideas and confronting them with others.
